Newsletter
Greetings,
April is national car care month and we at Marque
Motors are vigorously involved with this program. This is a national effort to
educate motorists on the importance of regular vehicle care, maintenance and
repair. This awareness campaign focuses on safety, dependability, and pride of
ownership. The goal being
increased consumer awareness
and knowledge from the benefits derived from routine automobile maintenance.
There are millions of cars on the road today (thankfully
not all in our city) and many of them need basic
repairs.
A basic safety check can help toward prevention of
common problems and more expensive repairs.
As a participant in the program we are offering free
safety inspections for your automobile. Please call for an appointment for
your check up. We are extending our free safety inspection check up through
May.
If you are in need of other service we will include the
free safety inspection while your car is at our facility.
Batteries
The battery is vital link to your cars
operation. Fluid level should be checked monthly and the terminals inspected for looseness
or corrosion. During the colder months, a battery can fail without notice. It would be
wise to have the battery checked for age and condition, and to test the charging system
for full output.
With all the on board computers and
electrical components; todays automobiles rely heavily on a full state of charge
from the battery and a good working charging system.
These tests are not time consuming and can
be done while you wait. Give us a call if you have any concerns or would like to have the
system tested.
Lights
This is a
simple owner check. Grab a friend and have that person stand in the back and front of your
car while you operate all the lights. Usually a simple bulb replacement is required. Some
of the newer cars may necessitate a little more complex work to disassemble items to
access the light bulb. Give us a call if you have any questions. We stock almost all the
bulbs for the cars we service.
Tires
Check your tires.
This statement can never be said enough. Check your tires. Tire pressures are
critical in the modern automobile especially with the larger tire sizes and pressure
requirements.
A nice tire gauge
makes a great gift and should be an essential item to carry in the car. The
newer digital styles are very accurate and the batteries last a long time-some up to 5
years.
Tire condition is
important also. Take a look at the tread. Does it look worn, worn on one side or the
middle, have any cuts or bulges on the sides? If you are unsure, stop by and we would be
happy to check them out and advise on there condition and recommendations.
Correct tire pressures can make a
significant difference in fuel mileage which can transfer into savings at
today's fuel prices.
Wipers/windshield washers
Again this can be
an owner check. Do the blades streak, skip or squeak? Replace them! The normal life of a
set of wiper blades here in the Northwest if about 6 months; believe it or not. We suggest
to buy original equipment (Bosch for the European cars) to ensure a quality component and
fit to your car.
Check the
windshield washer operation. You probably do anyway with the constant mist rain and debris
that collects on the windshield. Refill frequently, you will be amazed how fast that
reservoir empties. Be sure and add a quality cleaning solution and antifreeze solution
during the freezing temperatures. Make sure the nozzles hit the window in the right place
to be effective. A little lower helps to keep the spray from overshooting the glass at
hiway speeds.
Engine/Maintenance
This is one area
you may have to rely on the technician. A basic safety check is always
included when we service your vehicle, but if you have any concerns we would be more than
accommodating to check out your vehicle. Belts, hoses, cooling systems, and regular
maintenance items are all important also. Feel free to give us a call or stop by if you
have any questions or issues about your car. We want you to have a safe and comfortable
driving conditions this season. A little time spent to check your car over can save you
from that late appointment or even a tow.
Be safe and enjoy the upcoming holidays.
